Temporary Part-time Receptionist / Administrator
We have an exciting opportunity for 2 part-time receptionists / administrators to come and join our friendly team at SIMP in Salisbury.
You will be working in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, organisational skills and accuracy are paramount. A medical background is desirable but not essential. Candidates must be professional, caring, courteous and discreet. You will have excellent communication skills and telephone manners, along with experience of administration using Microsoft Office applications, Windows computer systems and email.
As part of a small team, you will be reliable and flexible; flexibility is essential as you will be required to work extra shifts to cover holidays and sickness outside of your normal working schedule. You will also be adaptable, pro-active, able to multi-task and comfortable working under pressure to meet deadlines. You will be keen and enthusiastic, willing to get involved and to learn new IT systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Answering telephone calls to make appointments, take messages make prescription requests or make home visit requests.
- Dealing with emails coming into the practice
- Responsibility for cash, credit and debit card payments
- Checking and bagging up dispensed medication
- Dealing with incoming and outgoing post
- Running and actioning administration reports
- Preparing travel assessments for the GP to review
- Preparing items for collection by the hospital courier and opening and distributing hospital mail
- Checking of sample labels and forms before sorting for the hospital courier
- Scanning of documents
- Dictation: typing up medical letters.
- Entering medical information and results into templates
- Filing
- Some manual handling / lifting / stairs
- Keyholder: opening and closing of the practice following practice protocols.
- Ensuring doctors’ supplies are replenished and listing items that need to be ordered.
- Some general housekeeping duties as agreed.
The practice is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 6.00pm. The shift times are 8.30am until 1.00pm and 1.00pm until 6.00pm. Due to the nature of the role, it is 100% office-based, and you must be able to work a full morning or afternoon shift. There may be an opportunity at the end of the temporary contract for the role(s) to become permanent.
