The Southern Independent Medical Practice welcomes new patients, whether on an individual, family (adult(s) with children up to age 21), or corporate basis, and our experienced and caring team is dedicated to providing the best possible care for all your GP needs in Salisbury, Wiltshire, and surrounding areas.
We offer both telephone and face-to-face consultations for our members, though we do believe that where possible, patients should attend the practice so they can receive the highest level of personal face-to-face care from our GPs and practice nurse.
To apply for our HealthPlan membership, you’ll need to complete our New Patient application forms, which enable us to assess your current and ongoing medical needs. Application forms are assessed by our medical team on a case-by-case basis. This is to ensure we do not oversubscribe and that we have enough appointments available each week for all our members.
When your application has been assessed, we’ll inform you by letter of the outcome. If you are accepted as a member, we’ll invite you to an introductory consultation with one of the GPs. This consultation is for you to tell us about yourself and should last 20-30 minutes. After that, you can book in your annual health check or Wellperson check.
During health assessments such as the annual health check or Wellperson check, measurements such as height, weight, and blood pressure may be taken. If the clinician judges that further investigations are appropriate, these may include investigations such as blood tests. Any investigations will be discussed with your during your consultation.
Our members are entitled to unlimited routine nurse and GP appointments. We pride ourselves on being able to offer unhurried and flexible appointments, usually within 48 hours.
Other membership benefits include:
- Access to emergency appointments
- An annual health or Wellperson check to detect signs of any underlying issues
- Regular screening for general health and long-term conditions
- Free seasonal flu vaccination and travel advice
Some elements of screening may involve investigations that are clinically appropriate for your needs. The specific investigations recommended will depend on individual circumstances and will be discussed as part of your screening assessment.
We also have an in-house pharmacy where most medication costs less than the standard NHS prescription cost.
