When you visit your GP, it’s usually to find a solution to an urgent health problem – and the consultation will be taken up predominantly with this alone.
At Southern Independent Health, our health screening allows your GP to look at the bigger picture – assessing your current health, lifestyle and risk of developing certain diseases.
By being given the opportunity to discuss issues you might have otherwise ignored or put off, your GP may highlight problems you were unaware of, enabling treatment to be accessed sooner and more effectively.
We’ve developed a broad range of packages to suit a variety of health screening requirements. Available for both registered and non-registered patients, you can book one or a combination of screenings.

The well man screen is designed especially to detect disorders that are most likely to affect men during their adult lives. It lasts 45-60 minutes.
All the tests are carried out by the doctor or by the doctor and practice nurse, where appropriate, and there is plenty of time for the patient to raise and discuss any concerns. For registered patients, this is the equivalent of the annual HealthPlan check.
Non-registered member cost is £395.

The well woman screen is designed to detect disorders that are most likely to affect women during their adult lives. Undertaken by a doctor (female if preferred) and a practice nurse if appropriate, it lasts 45-60 minutes and includes a smear test and breast examination.
A detailed gynaecological history is taken, with plenty of time allowed for the patient to raise and discuss any concerns with the doctor.
For registered patients, this is equivalent to the annual health check included in the HealthPlan. If cervical screening is carried out, an additional £200 fee applies for HPV and cytology laboratory testing.
Non-registered member cost is £395.
As part of your health screen, we consider factors that may affect your future health. Where appropriate, we use established tools to assess your risk of cardiovascular disease (QRISK3), type 2 diabetes (QDiabetes), liver cirrhosis and osteoporosis (FRAX). These assessments help us decide whether any further tests or changes to your care could help you stay healthy in the years ahead.
Our registered member HealthPlans are designed for patients who value continuity, accessibility and preventative medical care. We care for all age groups:
