Prescription supply issues

We’re changing our prescription policy – here’s what you need to know.

An increasing number of prescription medications are becoming out of stock without explanation and suppliers are experiencing difficulty replenishing supply from the manufacturers due to national shortages. Some items considered to be routine medication have ceased, only to return after an extended period at significantly increased cost.

This trend has been covered in the media recently, however, whilst answers are awaited, this has resulted in increased prescription handling times, delays and disappointment sourcing medications.

In order to manage prescription requests effectively, Southern Independent Medical Practice has increased the minimum prescription notice period to 72 hours (3 working days) before collecting prescriptions from us.

Please do keep track of any prescription medication you are taking and contact the Practice in good time to source your next prescription. Our patients can email requests or call 01722 415444 and leave a request on our Prescription Message service.
