A message from Dr Richard Willis

Dear Patient,

I am writing to let you know that I shall be retiring from medical practice this autumn and will be relinquishing responsibility for the Southern Independent Medical Practice at the end of the year.

I am very pleased to say that ownership of the practice will be transferred to Dr Ben Kay. Many patients will already have met Ben, as he has been working with us on a part-time basis for some months. Currently he is a Senior Partner at Harcourt Medical Centre in Salisbury, where he has worked for 20 years, but will be leaving there to work full time here. He absolutely shares the fundamental philosophy of medical care that has underpinned the practice since I set it up in 1994.

Please be reassured that the other GPs will all remain unchanged.

Our focus remains to provide the best care we possibly can for all patients, with face-to-face consultations, to work outside central government control while still accessing hospital NHS services, and to encourage continuity of care so that patients develop a long-term relationship with the doctors working here. Research has shown that such care provides the best long term health outcomes, as well as the greatest patient and doctor satisfaction.

I know that the practice will be in the best possible hands with Ben taking the lead.

Clearly, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at:

With all best wishes,
Dr Richard Willis
