A message from Dr Ben Kay
Dear Patients,
From the beginning of January, I will be taking over from Dr Richard Willis, and I am very much looking forward to meeting many of you. Patients who have been under his care will generally come under my care unless they prefer to continue seeing one of the GPs they already know. Continuity of care has always been central to the philosophy of the practice, along with unhurried consultations, convenient appointment access and friendly, approachable staff. These values will absolutely continue, and the care of all patients to the best of our abilities remains our core objective.
Continuity of care consistently delivers the best health outcomes, as well as the greatest satisfaction for both patients and doctors. It will remain at the heart of how the practice operates.
I am an experienced GP and have worked in the NHS for more than 20 years. I am confident across the full breadth of general practice. I also hold national accreditation as a GP Specialist in Medical Dermatology (GPwER) and spent six years working in the Dermatology Department at Salisbury District Hospital. Alongside my clinical work, I contribute to national GP education through the Primary Care Dermatology Society (PCDS), a UK charity that supports high-quality dermatology education for GPs. While dermatology is an area of additional expertise, my primary focus remains high-quality, whole-person general practice care.
In taking on the practice, I am genuinely looking forward to returning to the core values of general practice: having the time to listen, provide personalised care and build strong doctor–patient relationships.
From January I will be offering appointments on Mondays, Tuesday mornings, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
If you have any questions, please contact the practice team by email at info@independentdoctor.co.uk or, if necessary, by telephone on 01722 415444.
With best wishes
Dr Ben Kay
